Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to prepare for a pelvic ultrasound?
For a transabdominal scan, drink 32 oz of water 45 minutes prior and arrive with a full bladder. For a transvaginal scan, please empty your bladder beforehand.
What is the difference between transabdominal and transvaginal?
A transabdominal scan images the pelvis through the lower abdomen with a full bladder. A transvaginal scan uses a slim internal probe for a closer, more detailed view and is only performed with your consent.
Is the exam painful?
No. The scan is non-invasive and should not be painful. A transvaginal exam may cause mild pressure but is generally well tolerated.
How long does it take?
Most pelvic exams take 30–45 minutes depending on the study.
When will I get my results?
A board-certified radiologist interprets your images and delivers a full report within 24 hours.
Does insurance cover it?
We offer transparent, flat-rate self-pay pricing with no hospital facility fees. We can provide documentation you may submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement.
