What we scan

Every study, at your door

Every study below is performed on location in Encinitas and interpreted by a board-certified radiologist within 24 hours.

Pricing is shown per study on each page. DVT studies and the second-trimester anatomy scan require a physician’s order and are scheduled by phone. Soft tissue and pediatric studies are quoted by phone because the scope varies.

Why Encinitas chooses UltraVision

Private by Design

One patient, one sonographer, one unhurried appointment, in your own space and on your schedule.

No Referral Needed

Most studies — abdominal, thyroid, breast, vascular, men’s and women’s health — can be booked without a physician order. Only DVT studies and the second-trimester anatomy scan require one.

The Encinitas angle

The layer the longevity clinics skipped

Encinitas has become one of the most health-invested places in the county. Between Cardiff and Olivenhain you can buy a DEXA body composition scan, a micronutrient panel, telomere testing, hormone optimization, cryotherapy, a full-body MRI membership. What you cannot easily buy here is the oldest and cheapest look inside your own circulation.

Carotid intima-media thickness is one of the most studied early markers of arterial aging. Abdominal aortic aneurysm screening is a single measurement that finds a condition that is usually silent until it isn’t. Both are ultrasound. Neither requires radiation, contrast, or a tube. Both are missing from nearly every longevity package sold in this zip code.

That is the gap we fill — and we do it in your living room, on a morning that works, without an order from a doctor you’d have to see first.

What a visit looks like

Quiet, private, unhurried

Same equipment, same credentials, same radiologist read as a hospital outpatient department — at your address instead of theirs.

Good to know

Encinitas questions, answered

Do I need a referral for an ultrasound in Encinitas?
For most studies, no. You can book a carotid, abdominal, thyroid, renal, pelvic, breast, scrotal or soft-tissue ultrasound directly with us. Two exceptions require a physician’s order: DVT (deep vein thrombosis) studies and the second-trimester anatomy scan. Most imaging centers in the area require an order for essentially every ultrasound, which is the single most common reason people call us.
Where exactly do you perform the scan?
In your home, your office, or wherever you are in Encinitas — Leucadia to Olivenhain, Cardiff to Encinitas Ranch. The equipment is portable and the exam needs a room with space to lie down. There is no waiting room, no sign-in, and no second trip to collect results.
How fast do I get results, and who reads them?
A board-certified radiologist interprets every study and you receive the written report within 24 hours. The scan itself is performed by an ARDMS-certified sonographer — the credential matters, and we name it because not every at-home or elective provider does.
Is ultrasound safe? Does it use radiation?
Ultrasound uses sound waves, not ionizing radiation. There is no radiation dose, no contrast injection and no enclosed tube. That is also why it can be repeated as often as clinically useful — annually, or more frequently if you are tracking something specific.
How does this compare to a whole-body MRI?
They answer different questions, and one does not replace the other. Whole-body MRI is an anatomical survey. Ultrasound is functional and vascular — it shows blood actually moving through your carotid arteries, measures arterial wall thickness, and sizes your aorta. Those arterial measurements are generally outside what a whole-body MRI screening protocol covers. Ultrasound is also radiation-free, far less expensive, and repeatable every year.
Do you scan the heart?
No. We perform vascular ultrasound — carotid arteries, abdominal aorta, renal and peripheral vessels — not echocardiography. If you need a cardiac echo, your cardiologist is the right route. What we can tell you is what your arteries look like, which is what carotid intima-media thickness and aortic screening are for.
What does it cost?
Individual studies run $375–$525 with the price shown before you book. Bundled screenings are $625 for Cardiovascular Screening (carotid duplex with CIMT plus abdominal aortic aneurysm screening), $895 for Women’s Wellness and $1,295 for Complete Longevity. We are cash-pay and do not bill insurance, which is what lets us skip the authorization process entirely.
