Studies

Choose your study

No referral needed. Transvaginal imaging is only ever performed with your consent.

Pelvic — transabdominal + transvaginal

The complete pelvic study. The uterus, ovaries and adnexa are imaged through the lower abdomen, then with a slim internal probe for a closer, more detailed view — the most complete answer for pain, bleeding, fibroids or cysts.

Full bladder, then emptyRecommended

Pelvic — transabdominal

The pelvic organs imaged through the lower abdomen only — for patients who prefer not to have an internal exam.

Full bladder: 32 oz water 45 min before

Breast — one side

A focused look at a lump, an area of concern or a follow-up finding in one breast. It complements a mammogram rather than replacing it.

No prep needed

Breast — both sides

The same study on both breasts in one visit.

No prep needed

Follicular monitoring

Tracks follicle growth and the uterine lining through a fertility cycle — usually booked as a short series of scans on the days your care plan calls for.

Questions

Women’s health questions

Do I need to prepare?
For a transabdominal scan, drink 32 oz of water 45 minutes before and arrive with a full bladder. For the transvaginal part, you’ll empty your bladder first. Breast studies need no preparation.
What is the difference between transabdominal and transvaginal?
A transabdominal scan images the pelvis through the lower abdomen with a full bladder. A transvaginal scan uses a slim internal probe for a closer, more detailed view, and is only performed with your consent.
Is the exam painful?
No. Ultrasound is non-invasive and uses sound waves, not radiation. A transvaginal exam may cause mild pressure but is generally well tolerated.
How long does it take?
Most pelvic and breast studies take 30 to 45 minutes.
Do I need a referral?
No. You can book any women’s health study directly.
When will I get my results?
A board-certified radiologist reads your images and the written report is delivered within 24 hours — to you, and to your physician if you like.
Does insurance cover it?
We are flat-rate cash pay with no facility fees. HSA and FSA cards are accepted, and we can give you a superbill to submit to your insurance yourself.
