Renal artery Doppler

$525

Looks at blood flow through the arteries that feed both kidneys — often ordered when blood pressure is high or hard to control.

DVT — arms or legs

$395 / $475

Checks the deep veins of the legs or arms for a blood clot. Because a clot can need prompt treatment, we perform DVT studies only with a doctor’s order — call us and we’ll coordinate with your provider.

Good to know

Vascular ultrasound questions

Do I need to prepare?
Carotid, CIMT and DVT studies need no preparation. For an AAA screening or renal artery Doppler, avoid food and drink for at least 8 hours beforehand so gas in the bowel doesn’t block the view.
Is the exam painful?
No. It is completely non-invasive. A warm gel is applied and the probe glides over the skin while the machine measures blood flow.
What is a Doppler ultrasound?
Doppler is an ultrasound technique that measures the speed and direction of blood flow. It shows narrowing, blockages and clots without needles, dye or radiation.
How long does it take?
Most vascular studies take 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the study and how many areas are examined.
Do I need a referral?
Not for carotid, CIMT, AAA or renal artery studies — you can request those directly. DVT studies need a doctor’s order; call (619) 329-5614 and we’ll coordinate with your provider.
Where in San Diego will my scan be?
Wherever you are. We come to your home, office or hotel anywhere in San Diego County on our scheduled appointment days — the next are Thursday and Friday, November 19 and 20. We confirm your exact time and address with you first.
Do I pay when I request?
No. Requesting a scan puts you on our appointment-day list — nothing is charged. We confirm your appointment with you first.
When will I get my results?
A board-certified radiologist reads your images and the written report is delivered within 24 hours — to you, and to your physician if you like.
Does insurance cover it?
We are flat-rate cash pay with no facility fees. HSA and FSA cards are accepted, and we can give you a superbill to submit to your insurance yourself.
